How the ranking works

The ranking criterion

Servers are ranked by a single criterion: the number of votes received during the current month (Paris time). In case of a tie, the server that was listed first comes first. The counter resets to zero on the 1st of each month at midnight.

The “Players” and “Recent” sorts offered above the ranking do not change the rank shown: they only reorder the list (by players online at the last ping, or by date added).

Votes

  • A player can vote for a server once every 2 h, with their Minecraft username.
  • The same connection (IP address, IPv4 or IPv6) can only vote once per server during this interval, and 60 times per day at most, across all servers.
  • Every vote goes through several anti-bot checks: a signed ticket from the vote page, Cloudflare Turnstile, and automated voting detection. Votes that look automated are still delivered to the server but don’t count in the ranking. Our anti-bot in detail.
  • The team monitors serial voting (many usernames from the same connection, abnormal spikes) and removes rigged votes. A server that cheats may be suspended.

Sponsored slots

The three “Featured servers” cards and the banner marked “Advertisement” are paid slots, sold by the week. They are displayed separately, clearly marked as sponsored, and have no effect on the vote ranking. A sponsored server keeps exactly the rank its votes give it.

The Premium badge of a subscribed server has no effect on its rank either. Featured placement pricing · Premium.

Connection with a ranked server

MCVoteStats is published by MYROLAME, which also runs the Minecraft server Excalia. This server is ranked under exactly the same rules as the others: its votes are counted the same way and go through the same checks, and it gets no advantage in the vote ranking, the statistics or the featured slots.

Who can be ranked

Any Minecraft server (Java, Bedrock or both) can be listed for free. Before publication, the team checks that the server responds and that its listing follows the terms of use. A server that stays offline for a long time may be removed from the ranking.

Player statistics

The statistics come only from our own measurements: every 5 minutes, the site queries each tracked server the same way the in-game server list does, and records the number of players it publicly reports. No figure is taken from another site.

A tracked server may have been listed by its owner, added by a member, or added by the team from its public address. Until its owner has claimed it, it appears in the statistics but not in the vote ranking. The owner can claim it by placing a code in their server’s message (MOTD), or ask for its removal through the Contact page.

Reviews

Reviews are published by logged-in members with a confirmed email address, one review per member per server. A server owner cannot rate their own server. Reviews are not paid for; abusive or off-topic reviews are removed after being reported. The average rating does not affect the ranking.
